FOURSIGHT THEATRE
EDUCATION AND OUTREACH
FOURSIGHT THEATRE provides a year round programme of workshops, lectures and residencies, which reveal and explain the FOURSIGHT method of work.
To complement the national tour of The Snow Queen we will devise a variety of workshops in the Foursight method of work, which reflect both the content and style of the show and the needs of the individual group.
Students of Theatre Studies and Drama.
The workshop is aimed at groups with some knowledge of drama but beyond this
can be tailored to a range of ages and abilities. The workshop is particularly
suitable for GCSE, 'A' Level, BTEC and degree students who have devised practical
components within their courses.
The workshop will promote the concept of Total Theatre:
¨ theatre which starts with the physical impulse to enable textual and character
development
¨ theatre where the image is as important as the spoken word
¨ theatre which integrates the textual, musical, visual and physical aspects
of performance.
Participants will experience working in the Foursight method
and will gain an understanding of how the company creates its work, as well
as finding and developing their own theatrical and creative skills. When leading
a workshop, FOURSIGHT will emphasise the following core values:
¨ a commitment to high quality work which is thought provoking and risk-taking
¨ creativity based on collective and non-hierarchical processes and structures
¨ a respect for the experience of individuals [both company members and
participants] which encourages authenticity and integrity
¨ the importance of promoting individual creative expression and the importance
of personal choice
¨ the empowerment of women both artistically and socially [though not at
the exclusion of men].
Junior Schools. The workshop will offer an opportunity to meet the characters in role prior to seeing the performance and to learn something of the story and the ideas presented in the story, through games, hot-seating and songs.
FOURSIGHT is also developing a workshop for teachers of Drama and Theatre Studies to provide new ideas and stimuli for term work. Please call the office for details.
The workshops can last from between 90 minutes and 3 hours (depending
on the time slot available) and need to take place in a large empty room. Workshops
cost from £130 (plus VAT) for a maximum of 21 participants.
For further information and to make a booking please contact

As part of its Education Policy, FOURSIGHT THEATRE also responds to targeted
commissions
and takes part in Artists in Residency programmes.
