As its name suggests, Slap is tough, astringent and bracing.
The play is a rich tapestry of song, story and image. The smell of liver and onions, prepared, cooked and consumed on stage is complemented by a set that uses starkly dramatic lighting effects to make 'Slap' truly a feast for all the senses!
Set against a backdrop of sectarian violence, the play
followed the lives of three generations of Northern Irish women and explored
their eccentric and often irreverent attitudes to God, men, mothers and others.
Through their eyes the audience shared experiences - alternately sad, uplifting,
harrowing and funny.
'Slap' was originally performed at the
1994 Canada Fringe Festivals where it received rave reviews.
