REANS GIRLS
"A fabulous
evening of theatre..a brave, sensitive and successful attempt to express women's
stories that all too often remain unheard and unsaid."
Black Country Women's Development Newtwork
18th - 29th March 2003
Newhampton Arts Centre Theatre, Whitmore Reans, Wolverhampton
We are thrilled to announce that due to the overwhelming success of its original run, we have been enabled to stage the play again. If you missed it last time, or if indeed you wish to see it again, this is your chance.
Reans Girls is an exciting new venture for Foursight. Rather than a conventional play, Reans Girls is a multi-artform creative response to the engaging, provocative and varied stories of local Whitmore Reans women, who have come to live in the area from all over the world. Through the experiences of these women and using sound, music, live performance and installation work, Reans Girls is a celebration of the diversity of our local community.
Experience stories collected from daughters, mothers and grandmothers -personal stories which through time relate back to other cultures and experiences of world events, such as the Second World War and the process of the independence of the colonies.
The audience will be taken on a journey during which they will experience a wide-ranging bombardment of sounds, performance, smells and visual stimulus reflecting the rich diversity of the area. A sense of people leaving behind country and family, of arriving, joining and becoming a part of another community, yet still carrying a strong sense of cultural identity and ties to homeland.
