A baby ponders
if there is life beyond the womb.
A small boy learns to shudder as he calmly follows the hypnotic aura of a
beautiful woman - the flesh of her back riddled with serpents.
An old woman stands on the precipice of life - longing to fall.
Set against a sound-scape of screams and whispers, echoes and breath,
five characters walk through the valley of the shadow of darkness.
Transient images, unsettling stories and the haunting voices of the clarinets
conjure up the carnival of Death.

With their usual, theatrical flair, Foursight present a highly
imagistic piece of physical theatre. Embracing the different female characters
of Death in various traditions, the company delves into the mystery, exhilaration,
release and fear that facing death brings to us all. Pitching the individual
experience within the panoramic, we share a play in three movements.
Death's Incarnation ---- Life With Death ---- The Visitation
Voices of different cultures, experiences and ages are heard, and death comes
closer to us all. There is a theory that the number of people alive on planet
Earth today is the same as the number of people who have died since the beginning
of humankind as we know it. Some take comfort that so many have gone before
- others remain terrified of the unknown...
Death - beautiful, frightening, funny - and on its way.
With Pushing Daisies, Foursight continued its commitment
to artistic collaboration, on this occasion bringing together an exceptional,
mature and highly experienced team of distinguished experts. We were delighted
to be working with Dorinda Hulton (Directorial Consultant),
Canada's Lori Freedman (Composer and Musician), four dynamic
actors and Naomi Cooke (Director). At this time, Foursight
was entering a very exiting and expansive period; working with theme and biography
and furthering its commitment to total theatre: theatre which merges text,
movement and music to engage the intellect, the senses and the emotions in
equal measure.
We have all imagined - but not one of us knows. We have all conjectured
- but not one of us has proof. Some go and return - most go.
'Foursight Theatre's utterly compelling play about death is more inspirational
